“Time Warner has called and they want us all back on the couch, just consuming — not producing, not sharing — and we should say, ‘No.’” ~ Clay Shirky, Why SOPA is a bad idea
At today’s “How2: be a Hacker” we discussed the technical aspects of how SOPA/PIPA/ACTA legislation would be implemented, and how a simple implementation would not work as blocked sites could simply be reached via their IP addresses. During the discussion Brian told me about a TED talk given by Clay Shirky which discusses the origins of this legislation, it’s practical implications, and why the big media companies are so set on this legislation.
It is, as all TED talks are, a great presentation.
