Selection of New Officers
- As several of our executive officers will be ‘retiring’ due to graduations and other commitments
- As a result we will be beginning the selection process for a new CEO, COO, and CFO
- Details regarding the selection process and requirements of the position can
be found in the Computer Science Club Constitution.

VIII.d: General Responsibilities

  • All Executive Board members must:
    • Attend all general meetings, Board of Directors meetings, and Executive Board meetings
    • Oversee their assigned committees
    • Promote the Club and its mission on campus
    • Act in a manner which would be expected of a student leader
    • The Executive Board must present a list of goals to the members of the club at the first meeting of each semester

VIII.e Role Specifications

  • Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
    • Responsibilities
      • Guide the long term development of the Club
      • Develop and monitor the progress of the semester goals list
      • Maintain the relationships of the Club with other departments and student organization on campus
      • Write and submit the end of semester report to the Board of Directors and the Computer Science Department
      • Assist all other Executive Board members and committees in their projects as needed
      • Develop fund raising opportunities which are in compliance with University, Student Life, and Department policy
      • Organize and run the Club general, Board of Directors, and Executive Board meetings
    • Qualifications
      • Must have been an active member of the Club for at least one academic year
      • Must have passed or be enrolled in Data Structures and Algorithms
      • Must have a letter of recommendation from a Computer Science Department faculty member
      • Experience and knowledge of group leadership and project development techniques and strategies
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
      • Knowledge of the policies and practices of
        • University
        • Department of Student Life
        • Computer Science Department
        • Student Organization Funding Association (SOFA)
        • Student Activities Committee (SAC) policies and practices
        • Information Technology Services
        • UIS Media Lab
  • Chief Operations Officer (COO)
    • Responsibilities
      • Oversee the day to day operations of the Club
      • Track members’ committee assignments and maintain member contact information
      • Records general and Board of Directors meeting minutes
      • Ensure that all committees are staying on task and remaining within scope and timeframe
      • Assist all other Executive Board members and committees in their projects as needed
    • Qualifications
      • Must have been a active member of the Club for at least one academic year
      • Must have passed or be enrolled in Computer Programming Concepts I
      • Must have a letter of recommendation from a Computer Science Department faculty member
      • Experience and knowledge of project development techniques and strategies
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
    • Responsibilities
      • Maintains the Club’s budget and financial records
      • Complete and submit a financial summary report at the end of each semester
    • Required Qualifications
      • Must have been a active member of the Club for at least one academic year
      • Must have a letter of recommendation from a UIS faculty member
      • Ability to perform financial tracking and records keeping
